The Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University and the Finnish Foundation “Nadiya” signed a memorandum of cooperation to establish a rehabilitation centre for children affected by the war.
The centre will provide physical and psychological rehabilitation care, and will include a virtual hospital with telemedicine and a research institute focusing on European rehabilitation practices.
‘Today we are talking about the most vulnerable category of Ukrainian patients who have suffered psychological or physical trauma as a result of the war and now need rehabilitation – our children. Because of the war, Ukrainian children are forced to leave their homes and their usual way of life, hiding from bombing and attacks by the Russian Federation in shelters every day, and those children who live in the war zones, unfortunately, have witnessed armed attacks and are going through extremely traumatic experiences,’ said Health Minister Viktor Liashko.

The project will be funded by the Nadiia Foundation for 5-7 years. The total budget of the project will be about EUR 60 million, of which EUR 10 million will be allocated to the virtual hospital and EUR 50 million to the rehabilitation centre.
It is expected that the project will contribute to the development of a modern rehabilitation centre for Ukrainian children, the introduction of effective rehabilitation methods and the dissemination of European experience in Ukraine.
