Ukrainian Artists Call to Develop the Cultural Front

Artists and public figures of Ukraine have united around the Kultnastup initiative, recognizing culture as one of the most important fronts in the struggle for statehood. In their manifesto, they emphasized that the cultural space is not just a place for entertainment, but a real battlefield. It is through culture that our identity is formed, and Russian propaganda actively uses cultural tools to manipulate consciousness.

Culture as a Front in the Struggle for Statehood

Participants of the forum, which took place on October 9 in Kyiv, called for active measures. They believe that to counter Russian cultural influence, it is necessary to:

  • Invest in Ukrainian products: Support Ukrainian creators and businesses that produce high-quality Ukrainian-language content.
  • Replace Russian cultural content: Systematically replace Russian cultural products with Ukrainian ones.
  • Promote Ukrainian culture abroad: Actively use social networks and international platforms to popularize Ukrainian art.

The authors of the manifesto emphasize that the state must create favorable conditions for the development of Ukrainian culture. This includes financial support as well as the creation of legislative mechanisms that will stimulate the production and promotion of Ukrainian cultural products.

Opinions of Forum Participants

“If we have a high-quality cultural product, we will be able to fill not only the Ukrainian cultural market but also reach a global audience. Then we can talk about the Nobel Prize in Literature, Oscars for films, etc. However, this requires resources. The Kultnastup initiative is about reaching a higher level,” noted politician and public figure Volodymyr Viatrovych.

“Ukraine has never been an honorary guest at any major exhibition. For such a large country, this is a disgrace. And this is primarily a matter of funding – how the country sets its cultural priority in the world. This is a matter of constant work. Windows of opportunity close very quickly. We must enter them by creating cultural products, promoting, and advancing them. This is what Ukrainian expansion is about,” said writer and founder of “Old Lion Publishing House” Marianna Savka.
