The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to allocate 2 billion hryvnias for school meals for primary school students in 2024. This decision is part of a school nutrition reform program in Ukraine, initiated by First Lady Olena Zelenska.

The resolution, titled “Certain Issues of Providing Subvention from the State Budget to Local Budgets for Ensuring Meals for Primary School Students in General Secondary Education Institutions in 2024,” provides for the distribution of subventions from the state budget, which will ensure meals for nearly 800,000 primary school students (grades 1-4).
This state support will help communities provide quality meals in schools, which is an important aspect for the health and well-being of children. Furthermore, the resolution was adopted as part of the Strategy for Reforming the School Nutrition System until 2027, aimed at ensuring balanced and quality nutrition in educational institutions.
The significance of this decision underscores the government’s commitment to providing appropriate conditions for the education and development of the younger generation in Ukraine.
