Over the past 50 years, vaccination has saved 154 million lives around the world. However, there is now an alarming trend: the rate of planned vaccinations is declining both in Ukraine and globally. This increases the risk of the spread of dangerous diseases such as diphtheria, whooping cough, and tetanus.

Vaccination for Everyone
Vaccination is important for both children and adults. According to the national vaccination schedule, children up to 16 years old should receive vaccinations against ten infectious diseases. Adults should be revaccinated against diphtheria and tetanus every 10 years, starting at the age of 26.
Alarming Statistics
Statistics indicate a sharp rise in morbidity. In the first seven months of 2024, there were 5,602 reported cases of whooping cough, significantly exceeding last year’s figures. Cases of tetanus and diphtheria have also been recorded. The last diphtheria epidemic in Ukraine was observed in the 1990s when about 20,000 people fell ill, and nearly 700 of them died.
Checking Your Vaccination Status
If you are unsure whether you have been vaccinated, check your medical records or consult your family doctor, who can help restore your vaccination history. Due to population displacement caused by the war, @phc.org.ua and the Ministry of Health have developed recommendations for internally displaced persons regarding how to obtain vaccination data.
Where to Get Vaccinated?
In Ukraine, vaccinations according to the national calendar are free of charge. Contact your family doctor, therapist, or pediatrician to receive the necessary vaccines.
Additional Immunization Campaign
Since August 1, Ukraine has been conducting an additional immunization campaign against whooping cough, diphtheria, and tetanus. All vaccinations according to the national calendar are free. To receive a vaccination, please contact your family doctor or the nearest healthcare facility.
