The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has developed a new bill aimed at simplifying the military registration process for citizens of conscription age. According to the draft law “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine on Military Duty and Military Service,” Ukrainians will be able to register for military service online using electronic identification methods.

Key changes in the bill
Specifically, the bill proposes:
- Online registration: Citizens will be able to register for military service and update their personal information through the “Electronic Cabinet for Conscripts, Reservists, and Military Obligated Persons.”
- Abolition of commissions: The requirement for medical examinations and commissions for registration will be eliminated.
- Medical examinations for students: Citizens pursuing higher education will undergo medical examinations only before practical classes in basic military training.
Changes regarding the military registration of women
The bill also clarifies provisions regarding the military registration of women wishing to undergo basic military service. Women expressing this desire will be registered as conscripts just before being assigned to service. After completing basic military service, they will be registered as military obligated persons.

These changes aim to simplify the military registration process, reduce bureaucratic obstacles, and make it more accessible for Ukrainians. The bill has been approved at a recent meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and is now awaiting further discussion and adoption.
