Ukrzaliznytsia has announced the start of designing the Loko City multifunctional railway development centre on the site of the Lokomotiv sports complex destroyed by a Russian missile.
The winner of the open competition for the best architectural concept for the restoration was the collaboration of the Big City Lab + PUPA team. Their project takes into account the needs of both professional athletes and the public, offering active recreation areas for people of all ages and abilities.

The reconstruction of the complex, where more than 700 children and teenagers trained, will be supported by the Howard Buffett Foundation. Ukrzaliznytsia and its partners believe that motivating young people to stay and develop in Ukraine is a key priority.
‘Loko City will become one of the flagship projects for Ukrainian youth, integrated with Ukrzaliznytsia’s transport capabilities to bring young athletes from all over the country.
The next step will be to refine the concept and develop a master plan with a phased implementation, followed by a transparent selection of contractors for construction work.
