The Government of Ukraine has simplified the procedure for obtaining one-off assistance for families of fallen or wounded soldiers. Previously, it was necessary to apply to a special interdepartmental commission, but now the application can be submitted directly to the Ministry of Veterans Affairs.
In addition, the ways to submit an application have been expanded. Now it can be done not only through the Ministry, but also through the Centre for Administrative Services (CAS). In the future, it is planned to add the possibility of submitting an application online through the Diia portal or the Unified State Register of War Veterans, which will make the process even more convenient.

The Ministry of Veterans’ Affairs will now not only make decisions on the payment of benefits, but will also transfer funds to the recipient’s bank account on its own. Previously, this was the responsibility of the social security authorities.
It is important to note that the amount of payments has not changed. In the event of the death of a serviceman, the family will receive from UAH 2,271,000. In case of disability, payments range from UAH 757,000 to UAH 1,211,200, depending on the disability group.
