On 23 September, during the official visit of the Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine Mykola Tochytskyi to the United States, the American side handed over to Ukraine cultural property stolen by Russia from the temporarily occupied territories.
The Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the United Nations hosted a ceremony to hand over 4 medieval iron sabers dating back to the 9th to 13th centuries. According to the US Under Secretary of Homeland Security for Strategy, Policy and Planning Robert Silvers, the sabers were discovered by customs and border officials at the International Post Office in Newark, New Jersey.
Another 7 valuables are currently being identified by Ukrainian experts.
