What is ALTE and why is it important?

ALTE brings together leading European institutions involved in the development and implementation of language examinations. The main mission of the organisation is to ensure transparency and comparability of foreign language proficiency levels in different countries. This is achieved by setting common assessment standards that take into account all aspects of language competence: reading, writing, listening and speaking.

What prospects does ALTE membership open up for Ukraine?

  • International recognition of the Ukrainian language: The inclusion of Ukrainian in the ALTE system will contribute to its wider recognition as a language of international communication. This will open up new opportunities for Ukrainians wishing to study or work abroad, as well as make Ukrainian more attractive for foreigners.
  • Improving the quality of language education: The application of European assessment standards will improve the system of teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language and the quality of teacher training.
  • Promoting international cultural exchange: ALTE membership will enable Ukraine to participate more actively in international projects related to language learning and promotion, which will help strengthen cultural ties with other countries.

Thus, obtaining approval for membership in ALTE is an important step towards the integration of the Ukrainian language into the European educational space and strengthening its position in the international arena. This demonstrates the recognition of the importance of the Ukrainian language and culture, and opens up new prospects for the development of language education and international cooperation.
