Ukraine has increased support for institutions providing shelter to IDPs

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to allocate additional funds to compensate institutions that provide shelter to internally displaced persons (IDPs). More than UAH 21 million will be allocated from the state budget reserve fund to cover utility costs.

These funds will be distributed as follows:

  • More than UAH 3.9 million will be allocated to compensate the institutions under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Industrial Policy and the Ministry of Social Policy.
  • More than UAH 16.3 million will be allocated to municipal institutions, state educational institutions and jointly owned institutions of local communities.
  • More than UAH 662,000 will be provided to regional military administrations to pay compensation to private institutions that provide shelter to IDPs.

The money will be used to pay for electricity, water and heating for places where IDPs from other cities live free of charge.

The Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories will distribute funds between regional budgets.
