Key Findings of the Study:
- The highest demand from businesses is for computer and electrical engineers, as well as specialists with knowledge in electronics, automation, mechanical, and chemical engineering. These specialists are frequently sought in the industrial and IT sectors.
- Over the next five years, there will be an increased demand for engineers with expertise in mechanical engineering, as well as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and cybersecurity.
- The highest demand for engineers is in Kyiv, while workers with vocational-technical education are most needed in Kyiv, Lviv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
- There is a need for workers with vocational-technical education, such as locksmiths, electricians, electrical fitters, technicians, and boiler operators.
- The knowledge and skills of graduates from higher education institutions do not meet, or only partially meet, the needs of businesses due to a lack of practical skills.
- Most Ukrainian companies are willing to collaborate with state universities and vocational-technical education institutions; however, the main barriers are low-quality training and ineffective management.
- Businesses are interested in collaboration formats with educational institutions such as internships, joint development of educational programs, guest lectures, and dual education (work-study agreements).
