In Ukraine a pilot project is launching to train women truck drivers

Initiated by the Ministry of Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine and supported by the USAID Program “Competitive Economy of Ukraine,” a pilot project is launching to train women for truck driving careers. The project is being implemented by the NGO “Institutional Development Foundation.”

Project goals

The project aims to expand the professional potential of women in the transportation sector, which is especially relevant given the increased demand for qualified long-haul drivers. The initiative is focused on addressing the staffing crisis and promoting gender equality in the profession.

What does the project include?

  • Training for 100 women: Participants will complete a training course and obtain a Category “C” or “CE” driver’s license.
  • Guaranteed employment: 80 graduates will have the opportunity to work with companies supporting the project. Currently, 10 transportation companies have expressed their willingness to provide job placements for the new female drivers.
  • Free training: Participants will receive professional truck driving skills at no cost.
  • Mentorship support: A professional team will offer support and advice throughout the project.
  • Workplace adaptation: Assistance with adapting to the new work environment.

Project geography

Currently, the project covers four cities: Kyiv, Ternopil, Rivne, and Khmelnytskyi.

How to become a participant

To apply for selection, you need to:

  1. Fill out the application form by September 26, 2024, at the following link: https://she-trucker.com.ua.
  2. Attend an interview with the project team.
