In Kyiv, the construction of a backup heat network for the residential areas of Teremky-1 and Teremky-2 has begun, which will protect more than 280 buildings in the Golosiivskyi district from the risk of being left without heating, reported in the Kyiv City State Administration.
A backup scheme is needed in case of damage to the equipment of TEC-5 due to Russian shelling of critical infrastructure. It will allow for the rapid switching of heat consumers to an alternative source.
The construction of the network requires the removal of part of the trees on the territory of Teremky. Alternative options for laying the heat network turned out to be more expensive or longer in time, so the city chose this route.
The project is being implemented on the basis of the decision of the Kyiv City Council of March 10, 2026 No. 358/10825 “On the issue of ensuring the energy security of the territorial community of the city of Kyiv”. “Kyivteplenenergo” has all the necessary permits.
After the completion of the construction, the territory will be recultivated and the improvement will be restored – new trees, shrubs and other green plantings will be planted where it is allowed by building codes.
The Department of Environmental Protection and Adaptation to Climate Change, together with municipal enterprises, has already begun to develop a comprehensive solution for the restoration of this area.

Residents of the district, the public and experts will be involved in the discussion of the plan. The city is considering options for planting large trees, creating recreational areas, arranging eco-paths and elements of improvement on this territory.
