Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovyi today left the post, which he held since March 2023.
He headed the ministry for 3 years and 4 months – coming to the department after serving on the front in one of the most difficult periods for the country.
The education budget grew from 156 billion hryvnias in 2023 to 278.7 billion hryvnias in 2026 – by 122.7 billion hryvnias, or almost 79%. The budget declaration for the next 3 years provides for another 78.5 billion hryvnias for infrastructure projects in education.
Ukrainian education is currently systematically supported by over 35 governments and over 90 international organizations. Together with partners, it was possible to attract over $1.5 billion in international aid – the largest amount of resources that Ukrainian education has ever received.
During his tenure, a new law “On Preschool Education” was adopted and a new State Standard for Preschool Education was introduced. The reform of the New Ukrainian School was continued, and the preparation for the reform of the senior profile school was started. In vocational education, the largest modernization of workshops in years of independence was started, and in higher education, state grants for students were introduced.
