The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine supported a resolution that defines the mechanism for the evacuation of children from areas of active and potential combat without parental supervision.
The document defines the procedure for the forced evacuation of children by guardianship and care authorities in conjunction with the National Police and introduces the concept of an “evacuated child”. The resolution also regulates the child’s further route after evacuation.
After being removed from the dangerous territory, the child will undergo a medical examination and needs assessment, as well as receive necessary assistance.
Mechanisms for the temporary accommodation of the child have been defined, primarily with relatives or close people, and if necessary, with a foster or adoptive family, a family-type children’s home, or a social protection institution.
The resolution also regulates further actions in cases where parents do not maintain contact with the child for an extended period after evacuation and do not fulfill their parental duties.
