Over the first six months of 2026, 1,396 civilians died and 7,978 were injured in Ukraine – a total of 9,374 victims. This was reported by the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine (HRMMU) according to Humanitarian Media Hub.
This is 37% more than during the same period in 2025, when the mission recorded 1,122 deaths and 5,734 injuries, and 114% more than in 2024 – 940 deaths and 3,442 injuries. Over two years, the semi-annual number of victims has more than doubled.
The distribution of losses by territory repeats the general picture of the war: in government-controlled areas, 1,302 deaths and 7,781 injuries were recorded, while in Russian-occupied territories – 94 deaths and 197 injuries.
Among adults, 873 men and 483 women died over the six months, and among children – 27 boys and 13 girls.
June was a separate point in this dynamics: strikes covered 13 regions and Kyiv, and it was in government-controlled territories that the most losses were recorded – 279 deaths and 1,947 injuries versus 14 deaths and 43 injuries in occupied territories.
The most difficult situation was in Zaporizhzhia, where 23 people died and 229 were injured, in Kherson – 18 deaths and 236 injuries, in Dnipro – 25 deaths and 77 injuries, in Kyiv – 11 deaths and 112 injuries.
Among those affected in June – 178 men died and 1,065 were injured, 108 women died and 809 were injured. Among children, 5 boys and 2 girls died, and 56 boys and 60 girls were injured.
Since February 24, 2022, the total number of confirmed civilian casualties in Ukraine has reached 65,044 – 16,431 deaths and 48,613 injuries. The first year of the full-scale invasion took the most lives – 8,423 deaths at 12,670 injuries, while in 2023 the number of deaths fell to 1,975, in 2024 it was 2,088, and in 2025 it increased to 2,549.
