The Verkhovna Rada supported in the first reading the bill on decriminalization of pornography among adults and simultaneous strengthening of responsibility for child pornography.
231 MPs voted for bill No. 15294, with 226 votes required. 8 deputies voted against, and 3 abstained.
The bill provides for decriminalization of the manufacture, storage, transportation, sending, sale, and distribution of pornographic materials among adults.
At the same time, the document strengthens criminal liability for crimes related to child pornography and its distribution among minors, as well as for pimping, brothel-keeping, and organizing the sexual exploitation of children.
This is the third attempt by deputies to pass a bill on decriminalization of pornography – the previous two attempts did not gain enough votes.
