In Kyiv, the partial compensation for the manufacture and installation of gravestones for fallen defenders has been increased to 100,000 UAH, according to the Kyiv City State Administration. Previously, the compensation amounted to up to 50,000 UAH.
The decision was taken as part of the city’s targeted programme ‘Support for Kyiv Residents – Defenders’, to provide the families of the fallen with greater financial support and to take into account the rising cost of manufacturing and installing gravestones.
Family members of Kyiv residents – male and female defenders – who died defending Ukraine, as well as the families of those who died but were not registered in Kyiv, yet took part in territorial defence as part of the capital’s military units or volunteer formations and are buried in Kyiv, are entitled to compensation.
Compensation may also be paid to comrades-in-arms, friends or other individuals who paid for the installation of a gravestone at their own expense.
Applications can be submitted via the district Centre for the Provision of Administrative Services. The required documents include a passport or ID card, a certificate of participation in combat operations, a death certificate, documents confirming family ties, receipts for the manufacture and installation of a gravestone, and an IBAN bank account number.
