The government has allowed educational institutions to organize student meals outside of canteens during the period of martial law if there is a lack of space. The relevant changes have been made to the Procedure for organizing nutrition in educational institutions and children’s health and recreation centers.
The decision is related to the expansion of the school meal program. From September 1, free hot meals will be available to students in grades 1-11 (12). The current requirements for dining areas were formed in peacetime and do not always meet the conditions under which schools operate today.
Many institutions face limited canteen capacity. Classes often take place in several shifts, and children need to be fed even during their stay in shelters. Due to these circumstances, the government has revised the rules.
Now, children will be able to take meals in an organized manner in assembly halls, open halls, classrooms, or temporary dining areas. The use of alternative premises is allowed if clear sanitary and organizational requirements are met, the details of which institutions will receive separately.
