In Kyiv, at Kyrylivske Lake, the consequences of oil product pollution are being eliminated – rescuers from the State Emergency Service have already removed 65 tons of oil mixture, reported in the Kyiv City State Administration.
The pollution occurred due to damage to an industrial facility as a result of a Russian strike on July 2. Oil products entered the lake through the drainage system and the Sirets stream.
Thanks to the prompt actions of city services and rescuers, the pollution was localized. According to the results of constant monitoring, no oil products were found in the Pochaina River, so there is no threat to the Dnipro water area at the moment.

Currently, 9 floating skimmers are working around the clock on the lake, and the cleanup of the water body will continue for about 5 more days. Specialists from the Kyiv Municipal Enterprise “Pleso” continue to monitor the water bodies.
Isolated cases of death of aquatic flora and fauna are recorded, but no mass death has been found. The final amount of environmental damage will be determined after receiving the results of laboratory tests, which are expected on July 9.
Kyrylivske Lake is a technical water body where swimming was already prohibited. Due to oil product pollution, the use of the water body and fishing are prohibited at least until the end of the summer.
Due to the evaporation of fuel and lubricants, residents of nearby houses are advised not to open windows and not to rest near the lake until the consequences of the accident are eliminated.
