In the Lviv community, the right to discounted travel under the ‘Leocard’ program has been restored for children with disabilities and their accompanying persons, reported Ukraine’s Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets.
Earlier, the city council’s decision resulted in thousands of families losing their guaranteed right under the law. This concerns 3,803 children with disabilities, for whom the cancellation of the discount meant daily additional expenses and financial burdens on the family.
Parents of children with disabilities from the Lviv region appealed to Lubinets. The Ombudsman opened proceedings, initiated an investigation, and sent official requests to the Lviv City Council demanding that the violations be rectified.
The Lviv City Council reviewed its decision. The discounted travel has been restored, and the blocked ‘Leocard’ cards have been unblocked – 3,803 children have again received the right guaranteed by law.
