In Kyiv, as of 9:30 am on July 3, a temporary deterioration in the quality of atmospheric air is observed, reported the Department of Environmental Protection and Climate Change Adaptation of the Kyiv City State Administration. According to the city’s air monitoring system, an increase in the concentration of ground-level ozone and particulate matter is recorded.
The increased level of ozone is associated with abnormally hot weather, which contributes to its formation in the lower layer of the atmosphere.
At the same time, due to fires caused by the enemy attack on the night of July 2 and the lack of wind, pollutants did not disperse and accumulated near the surface of the earth.
This increased the concentration of combustion products and fine particles in the air, which can have a negative impact on the health of people with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, children, the elderly, and pregnant women.
On the right bank, the highest air quality index – 100 – was recorded at the posts on Shchuseva Street, 20 and Turivska Avenue, 28. On European Union Avenue, 64-G, the index was 75, on Beresteyskaya Avenue, 97 – 66.
On the left bank, on Architect Verbytsky Street, 26, the index reached 94, on Kharkiv Highway, 7/1 – 59.
Until the situation improves, experts recommend:
- close windows;
- limit prolonged outdoor stays;
- maintain water balance;
- if an air purifier is available, turn it on to the maximum mode.
