For tomorrow, June 30, hourly outage schedules for electricity have been introduced in the Ivano-Frankivsk, Cherkasy, and Mykolaiv regions – restrictions will apply from 16:00 to 22:00. The reason is the sharp increase in consumption due to the heat.
In the NEC “Ukrenergo”, it is noted that electricity consumption is showing a tendency to increase: as of 09:30 on June 29, it was 7.4% higher than at the same time the previous working day. The reason is the hot weather throughout the country and the massive use of air conditioners.
Consumers are urged to use electricity as sparingly as possible in the evening, from 16:00 to 23:00, when the load on the system is the highest, and to transfer active consumption to the period of effective operation of solar power plants, from 10:00 to 16:00.
In “Zaporizhzhyaoblenergo”, it is warned that on June 30, from 16:00 to 22:00, in the region, hourly outage schedules may be applied in the amount of one stage at a time. For industry and business, on the same day, a restriction on power is forecasted in the full amount – all five stages.
Separate pressure on the system is created by shelling. Due to Russian drone strikes, power outages have been recorded in the Sumy, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Poltava regions, with the most difficult situation in the morning in the Sumy region. Emergency restoration work is ongoing everywhere, where security conditions permit.
According to the words of the general director of Yasno, Sergei Kovalenko, in Kyiv, every additional +3°C adds about 100 MW to the power system. In addition to household air conditioners, significant loads are created by office, store, shopping center, and enterprise air conditioning systems.
The heat has become a test for the equipment, which has been working in war conditions for over four years and has survived numerous attacks. Currently, the active repair season is underway – part of the infrastructure is under repair, part is working at the limit of its capabilities, so in the coming days, the power system will operate in an intense mode.
