As a result of repatriation efforts, the bodies of 522 deceased have been returned to Ukraine. This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the treatment of prisoners of war.
According to the Russian side, the bodies belong to Ukrainian citizens, including military personnel.
The return was made possible by the joint work of the Coordination Headquarters, the Joint Center under the SBU, the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Missing Persons, the State Emergency Service, and other security and defense sector structures.
Investigative agencies, together with the expert agencies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will conduct the necessary examinations and identification of the returned bodies.
The International Committee of the Red Cross assisted in the return. The transportation of the repatriated individuals to specialized state institutions, as well as their transfer to law enforcement agencies and forensic medical examination, is ensured by the personnel of the Armed Forces.
