Ukraine has nominated five villages to participate in the international competition The Best Tourism Villages 2026, which is held by the World Tourism Organization of the UN – UN Tourism.
This year, Ukraine will be represented by Opishnya from Poltava district, Vyhoda and Kryvorivnia from Ivano-Frankivsk region, as well as Medzhybizh and Kytaihorod from Khmelnytskyi region.
Opishnya is a well-known pottery village, recognized as a center of traditional folk crafts.
Kryvorivnia has long been associated with Hutsul culture and literary heritage, Medzhybizh – with the fortress of the 15th-16th centuries and the Hasidic tradition.
Participation in the The Best Tourism Villages program opens up opportunities for the international promotion of Ukrainian tourist destinations, the popularization of cultural heritage, and the development of local communities.
