The Ministry of Health of Ukraine, together with the Ukrainian Rapid Response Fund IREX, is launching a large-scale training project to enhance the capacity of Mental Health Centers (MHC).
More than 350 MHC specialists from all over the country will receive training on psychological support for veterans, their family members, and loved ones.
The program provides comprehensive distance and in-person training, trainer preparation, and supervisory support. As a result, a single training program will be developed for all MHCs.
Specialists will learn about:
- the value and ethical principles of a clinical psychologist’s work during wartime;
- trauma-sensitive and trauma-informed approaches;
- crisis intervention;
- work with stress-related disorders;
- self-regulation of psychologists;
- the specifics of working with comorbid conditions in veterans.
The first online training session, “Basics of Psychological Assistance to Veterans and Their Families,” will take place on July 1-2, 2026. Registration is available here. Participants who successfully complete the online course will be able to take part in in-person training.
Training will be conducted by the team of the NGO “Resource Center “Lesova Polyana””.
The project is being implemented as part of the “Ukrainian Rapid Response Fund” program, which is being implemented by IREX with the support of the US Department of State.
