Ukraine has taken an important step towards restoring critical infrastructure with the recent ratification of two significant international agreements with France and the Republic of Korea, reports the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine.
Grants from France for Infrastructure Restoration
The first significant agreement is the ratification of a Grant Agreement with the French Republic, which will provide Ukraine with grant funding amounting to 200 million euros. These funds will be directed towards the restoration and reconstruction of critical infrastructure in the following areas:
- Housing construction
- Water supply and sewage
- Waste processing
- Mine clearance
- Agriculture
- Healthcare
Of this amount, 60 million euros will be used to support Ukraine’s energy sector, which is crucial for ensuring the country’s energy stability.
Loan Agreement with Korea to Support Reconstruction
The other significant agreement is the ratification of a framework agreement between Ukraine and the Republic of Korea, allowing Ukraine to receive loans from the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF). According to the agreement, Ukraine will receive loans totaling 2.1 billion dollars from 2024 to 2029. These funds will be used for purchasing equipment, reconstruction projects, and financing the state budget.
