Environmental damage to Ukraine from Russian aggression since 2022 amounts to UAH 6.9 trillion, according to the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets.

Of this amount, almost UAH 4 trillion are attributed to destroyed and damaged protected areas. Another approximately UAH 2 trillion are due to polluted soils.

Shelling of ports has caused oil spills in the Black Sea, covering an area of up to 800 square kilometers. This destroys marine ecosystems and makes it virtually impossible to use the coastline.

Russia must bear full responsibility for every poisoned river and every meter of destroyed land. Environmental disasters of this scale have no borders, so the world has no right to get used to this reality or perceive it as statistics.
