The government is expanding the “Affordable Medicines” program: from July 2026, 51 international non-patented names of medicines will be added to the list, announced Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.
New positions will cover:
- medications for blood pressure control;
- treatment of heart failure and arrhythmias;
- prevention of thrombosis and cholesterol reduction.
The list will also include medications for patients after a heart attack or with an increased risk of stroke.
The “Affordable Medicines” program allows patients to receive necessary medications for free or with partial payment using an electronic prescription.
To do this, you need to visit a doctor, receive an electronic prescription, and come to a pharmacy with the “Affordable Medicines” sticker.
In 2026, the program’s budget increased to 8.7 billion UAH. Since the beginning of the program, over 6 million Ukrainians have used it, and almost 2 million patients have used it since the beginning of 2026.
A separate rule provides priority for domestic manufacturers: if a Ukrainian pharmaceutical manufacturer offers a medication that meets the established requirements and has the lowest price, it can receive an advantage when included in the program.
According to Svyrydenko, this will support the development of national pharmaceutical production and strengthen the stability of medication supplies to patients.
