The Ministry of Veterans Affairs launched an experimental project of medical and psychological support for veterans who have faced addictions to alcohol or drugs.
Assistance is provided free of charge. Veterans and participants in combat operations with addictions or psychological difficulties after service, defenders who received a disability during service, as well as current military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine can use it – confidentially, independently, or by referral.
The assistance model is based on a multidisciplinary approach and combines medical, psychological, and social assistance methods. Each participant is accompanied by a team of specialists: a doctor (psychotherapist or narcologist), psychologist, psychotherapist, and social worker.
One of the service providers within the project is the Kyiv “STEP+” center. There, veterans can receive individual and group psychotherapy, support from social workers and physical culture specialists, and, if necessary, pharmacological support under medical supervision.
