Veterans with disabilities can take a free driving course on specially equipped cars, the cost of which is fully covered by the state. This was reported by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine.
The program can be used by veterans of the war, their family members, family members of deceased defenders of Ukraine, as well as people with disabilities who have medical indications for driving vehicles.
First, the participant undergoes a medical examination and receives a certificate of form 083/o, which confirms their fitness to drive.
Next, you need to choose a specialized driving school – training is available in institutions of the MVS system and other accredited driving schools in different regions of Ukraine. Among them:
- National Academy of Internal Affairs;
- Lviv, Dnipro, and Odessa State Universities of Internal Affairs;
- Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs;
- driving schools in Zhytomyr, Uzhhorod, Lutsk, Rivne, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, and other cities.
An application is submitted to the structural subdivision for veterans’ policy issues at the place of residence or actual stay – in person or in electronic form.
A copy of the passport, a copy of the RNOCKP, documents on status, and medical certificates are attached to it, and family members – documents confirming family ties.
After that, a tripartite agreement is concluded between the veteran, the driving school, and the subdivision for veterans’ policy issues, and the cost of training is compensated by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs.
Participants undergo theoretical training, a theoretical exam at the MVS service center, practical training on an adapted car, and a practical exam, after which they receive a driver’s license.
Those who already have a driver’s license of the corresponding category can only undergo practical retraining on specialized transport.
