As a result of the Russian missile strike on Kyiv on May 24, the National Chornobyl Museum lost about 40% of its main exhibition. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the department, the museum items from the main exhibition are irretrievably lost.
Rescuers and museum staff immediately after the strike began evacuating the preserved exhibits. It was possible to save items from the storage facilities, a painting by Maria Primachenko, and the Ukrainian flag, which was installed at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant immediately after the de-occupation of the station in 2022.
Fires that occurred in the capital after the combined attack were extinguished by rescuers for over 15 hours.
The police of the capital have already received more than 540 statements about damaged property.
