The regional centers for disease control and prevention have received 42,650 doses of anti-rabies vaccine, purchased by the state-owned enterprise “Medical Procurements of Ukraine”.
The rabies vaccine will then be distributed among medical facilities that provide anti-rabies care in the regions.

The basis of rabies prevention is the rabies vaccine itself. Anti-rabies immunoglobulin is used only in cases of high risk of infection – as decided by a doctor after evaluating the specific case.

According to the Ministry of Health, in case of an animal bite or scratch, the affected area should be thoroughly washed with soap and water for 10-15 minutes, the wound should be treated, and a sterile bandage should be applied. After that, one should seek medical help as soon as possible.
