Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Ukrzaliznytsia lost 46 passenger cars, and about 200 more cars and the Intercity+ train are waiting for repairs after shelling, drone attacks, and collisions.
Separately, 1,050 cars are waiting to be inspected and decommissioned due to their age and poor condition.
This means that the summer season will be more challenging than the previous one: demand is increasing, and the number of cars is decreasing.
The average ratio of demand to supply of seats on trains is already 4 to 1, and during the peak season, it will increase to 6 passengers per seat. On some routes, the numbers are even higher – from Lviv to Kyiv, 9,762 people are looking for seats every day.
Ukrzaliznytsia advises passengers to plan their trips in advance and buy tickets 20 days in advance. If there are no available seats, it is worth using the auto-purchase feature – since the beginning of the year, over 150,000 passengers have bought about a million tickets through this service.
Also, do not ignore transfers. In particular, to regional trains equipped with air conditioners.

In international traffic, Ukrzaliznytsia advises considering airports in Moldova, Romania, and Hungary – it is easier to buy tickets to them during the high season than to Polish cities.
The updated list of international connections is available on the uz-vezemo portal.
The company notes that they continue to build new cars and increase the pace of repairing the existing rolling stock.
