The Ministry of Health is Implementing an Electronic Queue System for Endoprosthetics

The Ministry of Health of Ukraine is actively working on implementing a new electronic queue system for endoprosthetics. Recent progress in this area was discussed during a meeting led by the Minister of Health of Ukraine, Viktor Liashko, along with the Deputy Minister for Digital Transformation, Maria Karchevych, and key project stakeholders.

With the launch of this project, Ukrainian patients will be able to receive endoprosthetics through a transparent electronic queue system at no cost. The Ministry of Health of Ukraine is centralizing the procurement of these prosthetics using state budget funds. In 2024, the State Enterprise “Medical Procurement of Ukraine” procured 37,809 units of hip and knee endoprostheses worth over UAH 520 million on behalf of the ministry. Most of the contracts have already been signed, with delivery scheduled for the end of 2024. However, there are still existing stocks of endoprostheses purchased earlier. This year, a three-year procurement plan was introduced for the first time, allowing for better pricing and more efficient supply management.

Endoprosthetics is a surgical procedure where an artificial joint is implanted to replace a damaged one. Currently, prostheses can be used for hip, knee, shoulder, elbow, and other joints.

The introduction of the electronic queue system will ensure a transparent distribution of endoprosthetics and patient queues for surgery, scheduling and calling patients for surgery according to the queue, recording and registering all operations in a unified system, and enabling analysis, monitoring, and planning of endoprosthetics procurement.

Additionally, the electronic queue system is expected to be integrated with “Med Data” to provide a database of endoprosthetics distributed and used in medical facilities.

The electronic queue will soon be operational in test mode, and training for specialists will be conducted to ensure proper use of the system.

We have previously reported that the Ministry of Social Policy is changing the mechanism for distributing wellness vouchers for children.
