The Documenting Ukraine program has opened the acceptance of applications for grants of 5,000 euros for Ukrainians who document the war of Russia against Ukraine.

Journalists who cover events in Ukraine, writers who work on texts about personal war experiences, and scientists who study its impact on people, the environment, and urban space can apply.

Also among the potential participants are public intellectuals, translators of relevant texts, archivists, filmmakers, and artists whose projects are related to the war.

To participate, you need to fill out the online form, add a resume, a motivation letter of up to two pages, a project fragment of up to 1,000 characters, a project description of up to three pages, and contacts of a person who can provide a recommendation.

All documents must be combined into one PDF file.

The application can be submitted in English or Ukrainian until May 31, 2026, on the website of the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna, which finances the project.

Each participant can submit only one application. Those who have already received one grant from Documenting Ukraine also have the right to participate – in the application, you need to tell about the results of the previous project.

The results will be announced in October 2026.
