The Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture, together with the State Employment Center, the “Astarta-Kyiv” agroholding, the “Zhittelyub” charitable foundation, and the Federation of Employers of Ukraine, launched the adult internship project “Experience Matters” for people 50+.

The project offers a flexible way for people of mature age to return to the labor market, and for employers – a model for attracting experienced workers.

It combines training, preparation for interviews, direct contact with the employer, and internships lasting up to 10 days, after which both parties make a decision about employment.

The project model has three components:

  • a training program for people 50+ to update their resumes and prepare for interviews;
  • meetings with employers to discuss the format of cooperation;
  • internships in a company with the possibility of further employment.

Applications for participation can be submitted on the website of the State Employment Center at this link.

According to the EBA, 75% of companies complain about a shortage of employees. At the same time, people of older age have experience and knowledge, but to return to work, they need to update their skills and overcome age-related biases.

Ukraine cannot afford to lose experienced and motivated people just because of their age or because the hiring system does not know how to work with their profile. The “Experience Matters” project creates a bridge between people 50+ and employers who need responsible workers today. We want the mature age to stop being a barrier and become an advantage that the employer sees and values.

– Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine Daria Marchak.

The project brings together the state, business, and the public sector. The “Astarta-Kyiv” agroholding acts as a business partner – in 2025, the company has already conducted a “Week of Adult Internship” as part of the “Active Longevity” program, and most participants got a job.

The “Zhittelyub” charitable foundation, which introduced the “Week of Adult Internship” format back in 2017, is responsible for attracting candidates 50+, training, and working with communities – in particular, through the “Trudolyub” initiative.

Expert support and communication with employers are provided by the Federation of Employers of Ukraine.
