In Kalush, a residence for IDPs with 48 apartments in a reconstructed kindergarten “Zirka” was opened

In Kalush, Ivano-Frankivsk region, a new residence for internally displaced persons (IDPs) was opened in the reconstructed kindergarten “Zirka”, which has not been used for over 20 years, according to the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development.

48 apartments were equipped in the building, designed for up to 150 people. Currently, 43 apartments are already occupied. Residents pay a service fee of 1,900 to 6,600 UAH per month and utility bills according to the meters.

During the reconstruction, the building was completely renovated – the layout was changed, the roof was replaced, the engineering networks were modernized, and the space was adapted for people with disabilities. The apartments are equipped with basic furniture, so residents can move in immediately.

The complex is located in the center of Kalush, near schools, shops, and public transport, and common areas and a green zone have been equipped on the territory.

Among the current residents, women and children from regions that have suffered the most from the war prevail – Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions.

The project was fully funded by donors – Habitat for Humanity in cooperation with Matalab and with the support of local authorities. The construction cost was 798 euros per square meter.
