The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the third distribution of funds for the modernization of school catering facilities — this time amounting to UAH 183 million. Ten schools in ten different regions will receive funding, including military lyceums.
Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko announced this. According to her, by September 1, all students from first to eleventh grade in all regions of the country should receive free hot meals. “Quality and balanced nutrition directly affects a child’s well-being, concentration, and ability to learn and develop, especially amidst the stress of wartime. This is an important investment in the future of the state,” she emphasized.
The program for renovating school canteens started in 2020 at the initiative of First Lady Olena Zelenska. It covers not only the replacement of outdated equipment, but also a review of nutrition standards and the introduction of a modern menu. Currently, thanks to the joint efforts of the state, local communities, and international partners, 1668 catering facilities have already been renovated — over 20% of the total number of such facilities across Ukraine.
