Almost 170,000 families in Ukraine have received “child benefit” payments under the updated support system, which came into effect at the beginning of 2026, Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko has announced.
The one-off childbirth allowance of UAH 50,000 has been paid to nearly 28,000 women who gave birth on or after 1 January 2026.
A further 20,000 women have received pregnancy and maternity benefits, amounting to UAH 7,000 per month before and after childbirth.
The largest group of recipients consists of families with children under one year of age. Childcare payments of UAH 7,000 per month have been awarded to more than 114,000 families.
Under the “eYasla” programme, payments have been made to over 5,280 families. This amounts to UAH 8,000 per month for a mother, father or guardian returning to work once their child reaches the age of one. The funds can be used to cover childcare services, educational services and personal care essentials.
From March, families can open a dedicated account at Oschadbank to receive child-related payments.
In the near future, all child benefits will be available to apply for through the Diia app and receivable via a single card. The government is also preparing a decision on revising the deadlines for using these funds.
