The Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories has established a Youth Council – a new consultative and advisory body to involve young people in shaping state policy.
The Council comprises 33 members, selected from nearly 100 candidates. They represent different regions of the country, civil society organisations, youth councils, businesses and councils of internally displaced persons.
Ivanna Odeichuk was elected Head of the Youth Council. At the first meeting, members also agreed on the organisational matters needed to begin its work.
The Council will work on the main areas within the Ministry’s remit:
- youth participation in community recovery;
- development of youth infrastructure;
- housing policy;
- creating a barrier-free environment;
- human capital development;
- engaging young professionals in other recovery sectors.
I expect the Youth Council to become a partner of the Ministry. A source of feedback, new ideas and practical solutions. And at the same time – a tool that will help us see how government decisions work on the ground.
– Oleksii Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for the Recovery of Ukraine – Minister for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine.
Next, the Council will hold a strategic session to draft a roadmap for its work and define priorities.
