The Ukrainian Veterans Fund, under the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, has announced the winners of the ‘VARTO: 4 Years of Support’ grant programme. Following the competition, 100 veteran-run businesses from various regions of Ukraine will receive funding. The initiative was implemented in partnership with Kernel and aims to promote entrepreneurship among male and female veterans.
The programme’s winners will receive grants ranging from 500,000 to 1.5 million hryvnias. The funds can be used to launch a new venture, expand production, modernise processes, or scale up an existing business. The total amount of support is nearly 140 million hryvnias.
The supported projects span various sectors of the economy. These include agriculture, manufacturing and processing, energy, innovative technologies, services, logistics, as well as rehabilitation, medicine, sport and education. Some of the initiatives are focused on creating new jobs and developing local communities.
The winners are spread across 19 regions of Ukraine and Kyiv. The highest number of supported businesses is in Lviv region — 13 winners. In second place is Poltava region with 12 projects, followed by Kyiv, where 11 businesses will receive grants.
The Veterans’ Fund emphasises that entrepreneurship support programmes help servicemen and women adapt to civilian life after service, start their own businesses and strengthen the country’s economy.
‘VARTO: 4 Years of Support’ has become the 16th grant programme of the Ukrainian Veterans Fund. The total funding for the ‘VARTO’ series of programmes is now approaching one billion hryvnias.
