A sharp deterioration in weather conditions is forecast across Ukraine from 23 to 25 April. According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre, strong gusts of wind and night-time frosts are expected in a number of regions, which could affect the agricultural sector and everyday life.

On 23 April during the day, wind gusts of 15–20 metres per second are forecast for Kyiv, as well as in the western and northern regions. Meteorologists have issued a yellow alert, the first level of danger. Such weather may disrupt transport, pose risks to power lines and damage temporary structures.

On the night of 24 April, in the central and north-eastern regions, the air temperature will drop to 0–3 degrees below zero. An orange danger level has been declared in the Kyiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava and Kharkiv regions. In other regions, forecasters predict ground frosts of 0–5 degrees, corresponding to a yellow alert.

Cold weather will persist on the night of 25 April. In Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava and Kharkiv regions, air frosts of 0–3 degrees are again expected. Across most of the country, with the exception of the western regions, ground frosts of 0–5 degrees are forecast.

Forecasters are highlighting the risks to agriculture. Early-flowering fruit trees may suffer damage due to low temperatures, which could potentially affect the harvest.
