Temperatures in Ukraine will drop sharply on the nights of 21 and 22 April, with frosts expected. The State Emergency Service (SES), citing the Hydrometeorological Centre, issued the warning.
On the night of 21 April, air temperatures are forecast to fall to -3°C. Frosts are expected in the northern regions, as well as in Volyn, Rivne, Khmelnytskyi, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy and Poltava regions.
A second-level orange weather warning has been issued.
On the following night, 22 April, frosts of down to -3°C are forecast across most regions of Ukraine. In Zakarpattia, Odesa, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions, ground temperatures will drop to -5°C – a first-level yellow warning.
The State Emergency Service notes that such frosts may damage fruit trees already in bloom. Apricot, peach and cherry trees are at greatest risk.
