The number of sole proprietors in Ukraine grew by 11,297 in the first quarter of 2026. Between January and March, 63,920 entrepreneurs registered a business, while 52,623 ceased operations. The figures come from Opendatabot.
The most active area for new registrations is online retail – through social media, marketplaces and messengers. The sector added 2,527 new sole proprietors.
In education, the number of entrepreneurs rose by 1,899, in consulting – by 1,230, in other information services – by 1,033, and in real-estate leasing – by 862.
The sharpest fall came in retail trade at markets and stalls, which lost 2,531 entrepreneurs.
Non-specialised shops lost 1,062 sole proprietors, household repair services – 291, road freight – 126, and television broadcasting – 125.
Kyiv led the country by regional growth, gaining 1,826 new sole proprietors. Lviv region added 1,651 entrepreneurs, Dnipropetrovsk region – 1,450, Kyiv region – 1,159, and Odesa region – 775.
Front-line and occupied regions saw the steepest declines. Donetsk region lost 479 sole proprietors, Kherson – 224, Sumy – 204, Zaporizhzhia – 97, and Luhansk – 56.
