Adidas has launched the Single Shoe initiative in Ukraine. People with lower limb differences can now buy a single trainer from a pair at half price.

The service applies to all footwear in all Adidas stores in Ukraine, including outlet centres.

In Europe, the initiative has been running since January 2026 – it was launched in 22 countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Adidas developed the service together with the para-athlete community, including British Paralympians and the Harder Than You Think team, which produced the documentary Rising Phoenix about the history of the Paralympic movement. This allowed the brand to take into account the real experience of people with disabilities.

Demand for such initiatives among para-athletes has been voiced for several years. Since 2024, British Paralympic champion Stef Reid has publicly called on Nike, PUMA and Adidas to sell footwear individually. She paid the full price for a pair and simply threw the second trainer away.

Previously, the brand produced basketball kits for wheelchair athletes and sitting players, and also created an inclusive design for the Olympic and Paralympic kits at the Paris 2024 Games.

The company is now preparing to launch adaptive running trainers, which it is developing together with people with Down syndrome.
