The average pension in Ukraine has increased to UAH 7,236 after the annual indexation, which is 14% higher than last year, according to Opendatabot.
At the same time, many pensioners still receive low payments – almost one in four gets around UAH 3,500 per month.
Over the year, the share of people with the lowest pensions has decreased from 36% to 28%. The largest group of pensioners now receives between UAH 5,000 and 10,000 – this is 3.66 million people or 36%. On average, they receive about UAH 6,686 per month.
The number of those receiving over UAH 10,000 has also increased. There are now 1.86 million people, or 19% of pensioners. Their average pension is approximately UAH 16,500.
Meanwhile, the number of pensioners receiving between UAH 4,000 and 5,000 has decreased. This group now includes around 1.74 million people, or 17%. On average, they receive about UAH 4,500.
The size of pensions varies by region. The highest payments are in Kyiv, averaging UAH 9,864. The lowest are in the Ternopil region, at around UAH 5,612. Only in eight regions of the country do pensions meet or exceed the national average.
The largest pension increases over the past year were recorded in the Rivne and Zhytomyr regions, rising by 22% and 20% respectively.
Some pensioners continue to work. There are about 2.8 million such people in Ukraine, or nearly one in four. Their average pension is higher, at around UAH 7,900.
Currently, there are more than 10 million pensioners in Ukraine. In the first three months of 2026, their number decreased by 116,000. Over the course of the full-scale war, the total number of pensioners has fallen by 740,000.
