On the night of 16 April, Russian forces carried out a large-scale attack on Ukraine. Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv and the Dnipropetrovsk region were under fire.
In Kyiv, at least 4 people were killed, including a 12-year-old child. A further 49 people were injured.
The most affected districts were Podil, Obolon, Shevchenkivskyi and Desnianskyi:
- in the Obolon district, parked cars caught fire after a strike, while warehouses, a tyre service and a shop were damaged. Two people were killed and six injured, including four paramedics and two police officers who responded to the scene;
- in the Podil district, several strikes were recorded. Two people were killed, including a 12-year-old child, and at least eight others were injured. Residential buildings and two hotels were damaged, a single-storey house was destroyed, and a multi-storey building was hit on the sixth floor. Rescuers pulled two people from under the rubble of the destroyed house and evacuated 10 residents from the multi-storey building;
- in the Desnianskyi district, a residential building caught fire, with no casualties reported;
- in the Shevchenkivskyi district, strikes were reported near residential buildings and a playground, with no injuries reported.











At the same time, Russian drones attacked Kharkiv. In the Industrial District, a car caught fire, while in the Nemyshlianskyi District, private houses and a gas network were damaged. Two people sought medical assistance.





In Odesa, a missile struck a residential high-rise building. Eight people were killed and a further 16 were injured. A major fire broke out in the building, and several apartments were destroyed.
The port, warehouses and dormitories were also damaged, with the blast wave shattering windows.








In Dnipro, fires broke out in residential buildings, on the grounds of an educational institution, in garages and at industrial facilities. Two people were killed and a further 30 were injured.
In the Novooleksandrivska community, a 14-year-old girl was injured after a drone strike on a private house.
In the Nikopol district, a man was killed and three others were injured. Houses and vehicles were damaged, and fires broke out.
Rescuers, medics, police and psychologists are working at the scenes. Search and rescue operations are ongoing, and information on casualties is being clarified.
