A Ukrainian short film Distance Between Two Points Of Me has reached the final of the Webby Awards in the category “Best Use of Artificial Intelligence”.

The film is also featured in the public vote, which runs until 16 April.

It was created by Ukrainian director Illia Dutcyk together with the Holywater Tech team. The project was produced by Bohdan Nesvit and Anatolii Kasyanov.

The storyline is based on the real-life experience of Ukrainian film critic Natalia Serebriakova, who was forced to leave her home due to the full-scale war. She also wrote the screenplay.

Distance Between Two Points Of Me explores memory, loss, and the search for a home, as well as how a person changes over time and the distance they feel between their past and present.

During production, the team used artificial intelligence tools including Runway, Midjourney, Kling, Stable Diffusion, Sora, Flux, and Luma. Some scenes were created manually, combining traditional animation with AI technologies.

The film has already received a number of international awards, including at the Runway AI Film Festival, the Telly Awards, the Seoul International AI Film Festival, and the AI International Film Festival, where it was recognised in categories for generative AI use, animation, and visual effects.

The Webby Awards are considered one of the most prestigious internet awards in the world, often referred to as the “Internet Oscars”. They recognise achievements in digital media, technology, content, and creative industries.

The awards also include the People’s Voice Award, with winners selected through an open public vote.
