Ukrposhta has started testing its own parcel lockers and has already installed 70 units in Kyiv, the company’s CEO Ihor Smilianskyi said.
At present, only prepaid parcels can be collected via the lockers. The option to pay for parcels in the app is expected to be introduced within the coming weeks.
Parcels will be stored in lockers free of charge for up to 7 days. After this period, uncollected parcels will be automatically redirected to the nearest Ukrposhta post office.
The “Ukrposhta 2.0” app has also introduced a delivery management feature. Users can now change the recipient, redirect parcels to another post office or parcel locker, and extend storage time.
If a parcel is still in transit, it can be redirected free of charge. Once it arrives at a post office, the service is charged at the standard rate.
According to the CEO, the company will gradually abandon paper-based redirection requests and fully switch to a digital process to reduce queues in post offices.
In April, Ukrposhta also plans to install another 30 parcel lockers in Odesa. By the end of the year, the network is expected to expand to more than 1,000 locations across Ukraine.
